Just My Dog
by Gene Hill

He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds;
my other ears that hear above the winds.  He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea.

He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being by the way he rests against my leg;
by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile;
by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him.   (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.)

When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive.
When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile.
When I am happy, he is joy unbounded.

When I am a fool, he ignores it.  When I succeed, he brags.

Without him, I am only another man.  With him, I am all-powerful.

He is loyalty itself.  He has taught me the meaning of devotion.

With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace.
He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant.

His head on my knee can heal my human hurts.
His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things.

He has promised to wait for me...whenever...wherever--
in case I need him.
And I expect I will--as I always have.

Who is HE?  HE's just my DOG!

Natural Heartworm Prevention

HeartWorm Free was studied for 4 years for use as a heartworm preventative with 100% success, prior to being retailed as a heartworm preventative.  HWF is an excellent effective natural heartworm preventative.

HeartWorm Free is made without Wormwood and Black Walnut. Wormwood has been known to depress the central nervous system and can cause mind-altering changes leading to psychosis when used over long periods of time (usually months). Black Walnut was found to be a high allergen causing hives and other types of allergies. With this information, Amber Tech developed HWF that (in the long run) may be more beneficial to your dog for heartworm prevention.

HeartWorm Free is a natural herbal remedy that contains organic herbs:

  • Garlic ~ Helps repel parasites, anti-microbial, stimulates immune system, antioxidant, lowers blood pressure, and overall tonic.
  • Black Seed ~ An overall tonic herb known for its effectiveness on the respiratory system, stomach, intestinal tract, kidney, liver, circulatory and immune system. Anti-parasitic.
  • Licorice ~ Supports lung tissue, blood cleansing, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, stimulates immune system (immunostimulant).
  • Hawthorn ~ Strengthens heart structures and functions (tonic), lowers blood pressure, nutritive, antioxidant.
  • Hops ~ Used as a diuretic.
  • Sorrel ~ Cleans the vessels of parasites.
  • Apricot Pits ~ Contains small amounts of natural occurring cyanide.
  • Grapefruit Seed Extract ~ Used for viral, bacterial, and fungal infections. Also rids the body of parasites.
  • Flavorings ~ To make it more palatable.
  • Alcohol ~ Intensifies the activity of the HWF herbal tincture while acting as a natural preservative.
  • Filtered Water.

Please note:    A syringe is included with each bottle of HeartWorm Free, along with instructions on HWF administration.   HeartWorm Free has a 4 year shelf life.

Recommended Use:  Shake well before use. Administer the appropriate dose in number of ml's as determined by the above weight-based chart once daily. HWF is best absorbed in the mouth, so it is recommended to dose directly into the mouth and not be given in food. Do NOT give on an empty stomach. Do NOT exceed recommended dose! Do NOT use in conjunction with a heartworm preventative or flea/tick preventatives, as these things toxify the kidneys, liver, blood, and body, which suppresses the immune system.

Be sure to weigh your dog before starting the HeartWorm Free.

Please make sure to have your dog tested for heartworm prior to administering HWF for heartworm prevention. IF your dog tests positive for heartworm, please go to our HeartWorm Free web page for active heartworm infestation protocol instructions.

Recommended Canine Heartworm Preventative Use:  Shake well before each use.  IF in a highly infested mosquito/heartworm area (Eastern United States), give HWF once a day every other week (full 7 day week). Use the same amount as on the chart above based on the weight of the dog.

IF in a low to average infested heartworm area (Western United States), the HWF heartworm preventative protocol is to use the HWF once each day during the 1st week (7 full days) of each month. Use the same amount of HWF as indicated in the chart above based on the weight of the dog.

Weigh Your Dog or Puppy Regularly:    It is EXTREMELY important to make certain your dog is getting the proper HWF preventative dose, based on their weight. We recommend weighing dogs that are close to the top of their dosage weight range and growing puppies at least once/week and once they reach the next weight level dosage, start them on that proper dosage immediately. Failure to do this can result in effectiveness of the HWF for heartworm preventative purposes. So, please, weigh your dog or puppy regularly to make sure he or she is getting the proper dose of HWF.

Recommended Use for Pregnant Dogs:    HWF is safe to give to pregnant dogs at one-half (1/2) the normal dose while pregnant and then giving the full dose once her puppies are born.

HWF as a Preventive

Step 1 - Your Area
Determine whether you live in a highly infected area or a low infected area. Click here to view the Heartworm Incidence Map to help determine the type of area you live in. A highly infected area would be an area that has 6 to 25 or more incidences per clinic.

  • If you live in a low infected area, continue to Step 2A.
  • If you live in a high infected area, please continue to Step 2B.

Step 2A - Low infected area
If you live in a low infected area, administer the HWF one time a day for the first seven days of the month. Dose according to weight using the above chart. It is recommended to discontinue HWF during winter months ONLY if the temperature remains below 50 degrees F.

There are numerous supplemental natural heartworm preventative  measures you can take to help strengthen and boost your dog's immune system to help prevent heartworm disease.  Here are a few natural preventative measures to consider for your canine companion:

  1. Excellent nutrition is always important.  Excellent quality nutrition supports a healthy happy body and the immune system. The healthier we and our companions are the greater the chance our and their bodies will stay strong and healthy so we can fight disease more easily.  If you have not already considered doing so, feeding species appropriate nutrition is excellent for your beloved canine companion.  Lots of information about feeding species appropriate raw food (SARF), bones and raw food (BARF) or a more holistic "human grade" kibble for our carnivorous canines can be found at the Wolf Creek Ranch Animal Nutrition webpage.
  2. Hawthorn berries - Supplement your furry friend's diet with hawthorn berries.  Hawthorn strengthens and stabilizes the heart.  We have found hawthorn berries is one of the ONLY herbs our canines will willingly consume.  I like to grind the dried berries fresh or give them whole.  You can purchase hawthorn capsules, berries, tinctures, or extracts at many health food stores.  Please see our Resources webpage for more info about the heart health benefits of hawthorn.  Hawthorn & Dandelion is excellent for strengthening and supporting the heart.
  3. Food grade diatomaceous earth - is an excellent natural way to eliminate all intestinal worms - rounds, whips, hooks, tapeworms, so feed daily, it will keep your furry loved one (and you for that matter) stronger and healthier.  If your dog has no intestinal worms, she/he will absorb the nutrients from her/his food more fully which will help keep the immune system strong.  More information about food grade diatomaceous earth.
  4. Give plant based vitamins and minerals.  This will give your dog valuable nutrients it needs.  Supplements that contain excellent vitamins and minerals such as Organic Kelp, Spirulina, Chlorella.  They say a properly mineralized being (people, pets, or plants) will not get parasites.
  5. Regular Daily Exercise will stimulate the circulation and helps boost the immune system.
  6. Give Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) in his or her food or drinking water.  ACV contains lots of great vitamins and minerals and has at least 101 health benefits - great for arthritis, skin, coat, digestion, mange, parasite repellent properties, etc.  1 tsp. to 1 tbsp. 2x/day in food or water.  ACV is excellent for people too!
  7. Herbal mosquito repellent sprays can be applied at dawn and dusk when mosquitos are most active.
