Remember, heartworms can get up to 3 feet long.  The dog's body has to dissolve all the dead heartworms in order for your dog to test heartworm negative.  This is why dogs that test a high positive for heartworm will need a little more treatment time and why we recommend the natural Kidney Rejuvenator for the more heavily infested heartworm dogs.

KIDNEY REJUVENATOR is a natural organic remedy that can help your dog eliminate the dead heartworm from the body more quickly.  Dead microfilaria are filtered through the kidneys.  Your dog's kidneys can become overwhelmed with microfilaria and not eliminate them as quickly as they should.

KIDNEY REJUVENATOR can help eliminate toxins from the blood and cleanse the kidneys.  This helps keep the kidneys healthy making it easier to eliminate the dead microfilaria and in many cases make it easier on the dog, hasten their recovery from heartworm, and help them to test heartworm negative more quickly.

Our furry friends are an integral    part of our family lives.

HeartWorm Free

HEARTWORM FREE (aka HWF) is a natural organic herbal treatment which helps your canine fight heartworm aka dirofilariasis imminitis. All natural HeartWorm Free is useful for heartworm positive dogs.

This natural HeartWorm Free remedy will help kill the heartworms slowly over a period of time allowing your dog's immune system to help eliminate the heartworm from its body. Because HeartWorm Free works slowly your dog does not need to be confined, as required by traditional heartworm treatment. Your dog can continue to play as he or she normally would not allowing "over exertion" such as racing or breeding. Within weeks, you may notice an increase in energy and a decrease in symptoms such as coughing and weakness and a healthier coat.

HeartWorm Free is made without Wormwood and Black Walnut. Wormwood has been known to depress the central nervous system and can cause mind-altering changes leading to psychosis when used over long periods of time (usually months). Black Walnut was found to be a high allergen causing hives and other types of allergies. With this information, Amber Tech developed HWF that (in the long run) may be more beneficial to your dog. View Amber Technology's studies of HeartWorm Free from January 2002 to May 2005, which includes their initial HWF product that contained Black Walnut.

MUST READ: Killing heartworms can be dangerous for your dog. Dead worms can clog small blood vessels causing organs to fail making it imperative that your animal be confined to a small space to try and prevent this from happening. Older, sick, or pregnant animals may not be able to tolerate traditional veterinary treatment and some dogs are simply sent home to die without care, as the traditional heartworm medications would kill the dog. This is why the HeartWorm Free remedy was created. HeartWorm Free's slow method of heartworm treatment has its benefits, which allows the dog to recover slowly. HeartWorm Free works well for all dogs, young, elderly, and is safe enough to give to pregnant dogs.

Keep in mind you are working with heartworms. The heart is a vital organ. Whether you use choose to use traditional heartworm treatment or natural heartworm treatment for your dog, there are risks. Anytime you work with the heart you take a risk. The heartworms can dislodge and go anywhere in the system. The heart can become weakened from the heartworms. Heartworms can get up to 3 feet long. If a dog is harboring a 3-foot long heartworm the time to rid the body of heartworms can be 36 weeks or longer. The severity of the heartworm infestation and condition of the heart will determine the results with the HeartWorm Free treatment. Amber Tech does NOT guarantee the health of your dog, due to conditions out of Amber Tech's control.

HWF is best absorbed in the mouth, so it is recommended to dose directly into the mouth and not be given in food. Do NOT give on an empty stomach. Do NOT exceed recommended dose! Do NOT use in conjunction with a traditional heartworm preventative or flea/tick preventatives, as these things toxify the kidneys, liver, blood, and body, which suppresses the immune system and will make your dog take longer to test heartworm negative. NO heartworm preventative is needed while dog is on HWF. Twice/day dosing should be given approximately ever 12 hours.

HEARTWORM TREATMENT WITH HWF

HWF is an all natural product designed to act as a slow method to help your dog overcome heartworms in as little as 16 weeks. This method allows your dog to live a semi normal life during treatment, not needing to be confined. It is still recommended not to let your pet participate in any strenuous activities. Strenuous activities may include; breeding, racing, jogging, long walks, or any activity that may cause the heart to race.

It is also important to not use any product containing Ivermectine. Ivermectine can be found in traditional heartworm preventatives, many flea and tick sprays/medications, and some shampoos/conditioners.

Beginning Treatment with HWF - TEST FOR HEARTWORMS

It may be advisable to add a few additional products to the HWF treatment plan (depending on your dogs condition), as these products are designed to help protect your pet's system from the damage heartworms can cause.

Treatment typically take 16 weeks, followed by a 12-16 week detox period which is designed to help clean the body of the decomposing worm. It is crucial to complete the 12-16 week detox period BEFORE testing for heartworms, as dead heartworms left in the system will give a false positive result.

**Note: 12-16 week detox is in ADDITION to the initial 16 week treatment. Depending on severity of the heartworm infestation, some cases may take longer.**

PRODUCTS RECOMMENDED FOR TREATMENT AND DETOX:

  • HWF - To help overcome heartworms.
  • Kidney Rejuvenator - Dead heartworms can put a lot of strain on the kidneys as they try to filter the decomposing worms. Kidney rejuvenator is added to treatment to help keep the kidneys strong while the kidneys filter the decomposing worms out of the body. (Optional. Recommended if your dog is showing symptoms other than coughing, or if the cough does not go away.)
  • Life Cell Support - Your dog will test heartworm positive until most if not all of the decomposing worms are out of the body, a 12-24 week detox is needed before testing. This is common in all heartworm treatments. Life Cell Support is added to help detoxify the body of decomposing worms and antigens in order to get a more accurate test result sooner (Optional. This is only used after the initial treatment period).
Do not start treatment for heartworms based on symptoms alone. Symptoms associated with heartworms can be indicative of other health issues. ALWAYS have you dog tested BEFORE beginning treatment for heartworms. Make sure your dog does, in fact, have heartworms by getting a test, either a snap test or a microfilaria test. Once your dog has been tested, ask your animal health care provider (vet) if the dog has a high or low positive.

LOW TO MEDIUM POSITIVE
Products Recommended:

  • HWF - To help rid the body of heartworms
  • Kidney Rejuvenator - To help keep the kidneys strong and the kidneys filter the decomposing worms out of the body (Optional)
  • Life Cell Support - To help detoxify the body of decomposing worms and antigens in order to get a more accurate test result (Optional. This is only used during the 12-16 weeks of detox following the initial 16 week treatment)

Step 1 - Starting Treatment with HWF
Use this protocol if your dog tested a low to medium positive. To start HWF, locate the weight of your dog on the dosing chart, and find the recommended dose for your dog. Administer the recommended dose two times a day (one time in the morning and one time in the evening) for nine weeks. If using Kidney Rejuvenator, it is recommended that you administer Kidney Rejuvenator, according to the weight chart, one time a day in the evening for the remainder of the HWF process. After nine weeks, have a test for the microfilaria performed.

Step 2A - Test for Microfilaria
After nine weeks have your dog tested for microfilaria. This is the test where the vet looks at a sample of the blood under a microscope.

  • If the test comes back negative (or if microfilaria exist but they are all dead), then continue on to Step 3.
  • If the test comes back positive for live microfilaria, then continue on to Step 2B.
(NOTE: If your dog is still coughing and showing symptoms after this point, please give us a call at (951) 674-0921, Monday through Friday 10am-5pm PST or E-Mail Us.

Step 2B - Doubling the Dose (To be done ONLY if the dog is still POSITIVE for the microfilaria at the nine week testing.

If after 9 weeks of treatment, your dog is still positive for microfilaria, you will need to double the dose of the HWF. This should be done slowly to avoid negative reactions from the HWF.

To double the dose, increase the HWF in 0.1ml/cc increments every other day. If you notice any negative signs or differences in behavior, then reduce HWF for one week to the last known dose which did not have any adverse reactions. After one week from the reaction, continue increasing the dose by 0.1ml/cc every other day until the dose is doubled. It may be necessary to evaporate the alcohol by mixing with equal amounts of very hot water (110 F- 135F) and then let the mixture cool. This may reduce the effects of alcohol on your dog, which might be the cause of a difference in behavior. Keep your dog on a doubled dose for the remainder of the HWF process. Once the dose has been doubled, continue to Step 2C.

Step 2C - Retesting for Microfilaria
(To be done ONLY if the dog was positive for microfilaria at 9 weeks)

Keep your dog on the doubled dose for six more weeks. Have your dog re-tested for microfilaria. This is the test where the vet looks at a sample of the blood under a microscope.

  • If the test is negative (or if microfilaria exist but they are all dead) then continue to Step 3.
  • If they tested positive again, repeat this step.

Step 3 - Continue HWF
After your dog has tested negative for microfilaria, continue HWF on the current dose for seven more weeks, and then proceed to Step 4.

Step 4 - Detox -
It is time to put your dog on the HWF detox schedule. This is designed to allow the antigens and the decomposing heartworm material to filter from the blood. This provides a more accurate result and reduces the chance of a false positive due to pieces of a dead worms remaining in the blood.

Determine which detox schedule to put your pet on. To Detox with HWF and Life Cell Support (recommended), continue to Step 5A. If you chose to detox with just HWF continue to Step 5B.

**Note: If you are using Kidney Rejuvenator, administer Kidney Rejuvenator one time a day for the duration of the detox.**

Step 5A - Detox with HWF and Life Cell Support
Detoxing with HWF and Life Cell Support calls for administering HWF half the normal dose once a day, in the mornining (i.e., if your dog's treatment dose was 2.4 ml's twice/day, give only 1.2 mils once a day) for 12 weeks. This will prevent your dog from becoming re-infected and will also help rid the body of any remaining living heartworms.

Life Cell Support is used to reduce the amount of time it takes for your dog to complete the detox period from 16 weeks to 12 weeks. Administer Life Cell Support 8 weeks after starting the detox period, and continue on the Life Cell Support for the remainder of the 12 weeks.

After the 12 week detox period, continue on to Step 6A.

Step 5B - Detox without Life Cell Support
The HWF detox protocol WITHOUT Life Cell Support calls for administering HWF half dose only one time a day for 16 weeks (i.e., if your dog's treatment dose was 2.4 ml's twice/day, give only 1.2 mils once a day). This will prevent your dog from becoming re-infected and will also help rid the body of any living heart worms. After following the HWF detox schedule, continue to Step 6A.

Step 6A - Snap Test
After the detox period is completed, take your dog to the vet to have a snap test done.

  • If the test comes back negative, continue to Step 7.
  • If the test comes back positive, proceed to Step 6B.

Step 6B - Doubling the Dose
If your dog is already on a double dose protocol, please skip this step and proceed to Step 6C.

If your dog has tested positive for heartworms at this point, you need to double the dose. This should be done slowly to avoid any negative reactions from the HWF. Once the dose has been doubled, continue to Step 6C.

Step 6C - Continuing the doubled dose
Continue HWF for nine more weeks. After the nine weeks, proceed to Step 4: Detox.

Step 7 - Being Heartworm Free
Congratulations, your dog is now Heartworm Free! To help keep your dog free of heartworms, it is recommended to put your dog on a heartworm preventive protocol. HWF may be given as a preventive. If you plan on using traditional Heartworm Preventative, wait three days after discontinuing HWF to put your dog on a traditional heartworm preventive. To learn more about HWF as a preventive, please refer to Section 3: HWF as a Preventive or see our Canine Heartworm Preventative page.

Section 2: High Positives
Products Recommended for this protocol -

  • HWF - To help rid the body of heartworms
  • Kidney Rejuvenator - To help keep the kidneys strong and filter the decomposing worms out of the body (Optional)
  • Life Cell Support - To help detoxify the body of decomposing worms and antigens in order to get a more accurate test result (Optional. This is only used during Step 5A: Detox with HWF and Life Cell Support).

  • If the test comes back positive for microfilaria, repeat this step (six more weeks of HWF, then retest again).

Step 3 - Continuing HWF
Continue HWF for nine more weeks. Then proceed to Step 4.

Step 4 - Detox
It is time to put your dog on the HWF detox schedule. This is designed to allow the antigens and the decomposing heartworm material to filter from the blood. This provides a more accurate result and reduces the chance of a false positive due to pieces of a dead worms remaining in the blood.

Determine which detox schedule to put your pet on. To Detox with HWF and Life Cell Support (recommended), continue to Step 5A. If you chose to detox with just HWF continue to Step 5B.

**Note: If you are using Kidney Rejuvenator, administer Kidney Rejuvenator one time a day for the duration of the detox.

Step 5A - Detox with HWF and Life Cell Support

This will prevent your dog from becoming re-infected and will also help rid the body of any living heart worms.

The HWF detox protocol without Life Cell Support calls for putting your dog on HWF half dose only one time a day for 16 weeks (i.e., if your dog's treatment dose was 2.4 ml's twice/day, give only 1.2 mils once a day for sixteen weeks). This will prevent your dog from becoming re-infected and will also help rid the body of any living heart worms. After following the HWF detox schedule, continue to Step 6A.

Step 6A - Snap Test
After the detox period, take your dog to the vet to have a snap test.

  • If the test comes back negative, proceed to Step 7.
  • If the test comes back positive, proceed to Step 6B.

Step 6B - Continuing HWF
Continue HWF for nine more weeks. After nine weeks, restart the HWF detox protocol at Step 4: Detox.

Step 7 - Being Heartworm Free

Section 3: HWF as a Preventive
Products recommended for this protocol -

  • HWF - To help rid the body of heartworm larvae.

PLEASE READ:   Often, dogs infested with heartworm lose weight, as the heartworm infestation makes them less hungry and active. Most dogs gain weight while using HeartWorm Free, as the heartworms are killed and the dog becomes more active, their appetite returns. It is EXTREMELY important to make certain your dog is getting the proper HWF dose, based on their weight. We recommend weighing dogs that are close to the top of their dosage weight range at least once/week and once they reach the next weight level dosage, start them on that proper dosage immediately. Failure to do this can result in a longer treatment time. So, please, weigh your dog regularly to make sure he or she is getting the proper dose of HWF.

Recommended Use for Pregnant Dogs:   HWF is safe to give to pregnant dogs at one-half (1/2) the normal dose while pregnant and then giving the full dose once her puppies are born. This will help prevent her infestation from getting worse while pregnant. Depending on her level of infestation while pregnant, she may need to be treated a little longer than the 4 month cycle, since she would be on 1/2 the normal dose while pregnant.
